‘I like my players fighting’ – David Moyes defends Idrissa Gueye after slapping Everton teammate

1+ min ago (372+ words) David Moyes said he likes his players fighting each other after Idrissa Gueye was sent off for slapping Michael Keane during Everton's 1-0 victory at Manchester United. The Everton pair started arguing with each other in the 13th minute, and Keane pushed Gueye away before the Senegalese hit him with an open hand. Referee Tony Harrington showed the defensive midfielder a straight red card for violent conduct. Moyes later defended Gueye, saying he likes his players fighting each other. He said (per The Guardian): "I like my players fighting each other, if someone didn't do the right action. If you want that toughness and resilience to get a result, you want someone to act on it. "If nothing happened [no red card], I don't think anyone in the stadium would have been surprised. I thought the referee could have taken a bit…...

Presidential execution threats crossed the line - The Boston Globe

1+ min ago (252+ words) President Trump reached a new low when he called for the execution of six lawmakers who served in the US military or the intelligence community (Trump calls Democrats "traitors" over video," Page A6, Nov. 21). Their crime was stating the truth that members of the US military do not have to follow illegal orders. Decent Republicans in Congress should focus on the possibility of impeachment. This has been going on for his entire second term. No banner headlines when horrible acts take place. On Thursday, the president railed about certain members of Congress expressing their free speech, with the threat of execution. If this wasn"t cause for a banner headline, nothing is or ever will be. The Globe did have the story, on page 6. CBS News led with it, as did many news services. This is no time for timid journalism....

Apprentices are being sidelined by outdated state laws - The Boston Globe

1+ min ago (206+ words) Massachusetts needs to apply common sense to fix the ratio problem at the heart of our construction labor shortage. Apprentices are being sidelined by outdated state laws Massachusetts needs to apply common sense to fix the ratio problem at the heart of our construction labor shortage. Massachusetts does indeed face a huge shortage of construction workers (Would you hire an electrician from Harvard Vocational School?" Opinion, Nov. 19) and expanding vocational-technical high school capacity to accommodate the over 10,000 students currently on voc-tech wait lists would be an important step. Unfortunately, that would only be part of the solution. Even with additional vocational school capacity, under Massachusetts apprenticeship laws, construction ratios require up to five experienced journeypersons in a trade for each apprentice on a job site. That's right " unlike in classrooms or hospitals, where a teacher or physician leads a cohort…...
